Oregon State Fair 2012

Day 1 at the Fair
Finn and Porter in the Forest Center keeping a watchful eye out for Smokey the Bear

One boy is a little more relaxed on the pony ride

The race is on!

Maggie wonders why she's not big enough to go on the rides

Neither boy completely relaxed on Aziz the camel

If I can't ride anything, I'll just raid Nammie's purse

Is there anything better than fair food? Gotta love that cotton candy

Recreation Station. Porter sizes up the climbing wall

Finn just lookin' cute

Dupa and Mags checking out the fishies

We did spend alot of time looking at the animals in the Ag Barns. But all the pictures were of the back of the kids so I didn't include them. I think Jana and I took the kids to the fair at least 3 different times. We bought our tickest at a discount so we were able to go multiple times. And with a hand stamp, we could before and after naptime. Al and Maryanne and AJ and JJ and JJ's folks were able to come a couple of times as well. Love love love the State Fair!

A fun train ride around the model village

Sorry about the poor quality of the photos. I don't know what was wrong with my camera. Anyway, just up the road from Keizer is the tiny town of Brookes. Every summer they put on a really fun and really large Steam Fair. All sorts of steam engines and machines are up and running to look at and ride on and marvel at. If you've never been to the Great American Steam Up watch for it next summer and make plans to spend a really fun day in Brookes

July 4th 2012 Fun at Otter Crest

This past July, JJ and his very generous family invited us to spend 5 days at Otter Crest Resort on the Oregon Coast. We had fantastic weather and a really fun time. Fingers crossed that we can make this an annual family outing.
Al and I took a filed trip to see the Japanese dock that the tsunami brought to our coast

While the girls shopped, the boys played a round of miniature golf at Salishan

One day Al and I gave the kids a break and took the g-kids to the aquarium in Newport.

Better than anything on TV

The boys spent an afternoon at Rogue "shopping"

AJ taught all the kids how to fly his ridiculously tricky trick kite.

Happy Independance Day!
